Ledger Wallet connection troubleshooting

Common checks when Ledger Wallet does not detect a hardware device on desktop or mobile, Bluetooth pairing fails, or a browser wallet cannot connect.

Use official support for device recovery or firmware-specific procedures

This website provides general connection checks only. For firmware update, bootloader or device recovery procedures, follow Ledger’s current official support instructions for your exact model.

Desktop app does not detect the Ledger device

  1. Use a data-capable USB cable and try a direct USB port.
  2. Unlock the hardware device with its PIN.
  3. Close other wallet applications and browser tabs that may be using the device.
  4. Restart Ledger Wallet and reconnect the device.
  5. On Windows, check current USB drivers and operating-system updates.
  6. On Linux, check Ledger’s current USB permission or device-rule instructions.

Bluetooth pairing does not complete

  1. Confirm your Ledger model supports the required Bluetooth connection.
  2. Keep the hardware device unlocked and near the phone.
  3. Remove old pairing entries if a previous pairing is stuck.
  4. Restart Bluetooth on the phone and retry from the official Ledger Wallet app.
  5. Approve the secure-connection prompt on the hardware device when it appears.

Browser wallet cannot see the Ledger device

  1. Confirm the third-party wallet supports Ledger hardware connections.
  2. Use the browser recommended by that wallet’s official documentation.
  3. Close Ledger Wallet if the third-party wallet documentation warns about connection conflicts.
  4. Open the required blockchain app on the hardware device.
  5. Reconnect the device and retry the hardware-wallet connection flow.

Desktop and mobile show different accounts

Each Ledger Wallet installation can maintain its own locally added account list. Add the missing account on the other installation while using the same Ledger device. If the devices were initialized with different recovery phrases, they represent different wallet keys and can show different account sets.

Bootloader, firmware update or “MCU firmware is outdated”

These messages are device- and firmware-specific. Do not follow random recovery instructions from search results. Open Ledger’s official support site, search the exact message and follow the current procedure for your Ledger model.
